The UCF Community Veterans History Project is collecting, preserving, and making accessible to the public the experiences of Central Florida’s veterans so that future generations will better understand the realities of conflict in both hot and cold wars. It is a collaborative endeavor supported by multiple departments and offices at UCF. The histories, which students began recording during the fall 2010 semester, are archived and made digitally available through the UCF library. The UCF Community Veterans History Project will also contribute selected veterans’ histories to the Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress.
LIFE at UCF supports this effort, and member Marty Wiener heads a group of volunteers that assist LIFE members in getting their histories entered in this worthwhile project. Marty can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org . UCF provides a copy of the video interview to each participant which becomes a special family heritage gift. All LIFE veterans should consider telling their story in this program.
The UCF CVHP is a RICHES of Central Florida Project.
Veterans who would like to be interviewed may register to be interviewed.
