LIFE EXPERIENTIAL TRIPS

As part of its continuing education program Life supports Experiential Trips to various local venues for its members and their immediate family. These trips are managed entirely by Life volunteers and require sign ups utilizing this website. For all events sign-up and payment will be via PayPal.  Tour prices are for contracted special group rates. This may result in minimum and maximum tour group size.  Tours must be paid for when signing up.  Fees are non-refundable unless the member or coordinator can find a replacement and member notifies the coordinator at least 3 days before the event.

As with all our programs LIFE member volunteers are needed to support this effort.  Tour leaders are required for all events.  If you are interested in helping out with this new program contact Marie Ruckstuhl at marie.ruckstuhl@gmail.com.

Trips will be published on this site when they are confirmed by the Trip committee.  Sign-up forms for these Experiential Trips will activate approximately 3 weeks prior to the each trips.  The names of all participants must be listed on the registration form.

Trip attendees must enter as a group in order to get the group rate.  So please arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled start time.  

 

Upcoming Fall 2018 Trips

The following are two extended trips, one international and one stateside.  These are to be exclusive to LIFE members.  We must meet a minimum of 18 people and maximum of 24.  There is a short window of opportunity to sign up for each tour as the tour company must either confirm or cancel the hotel  reservations by 12/3/2018.  Please let Marie Ruckstuhl know as soon as possible if you are interested and would like more details.   marie.ruckstuhl@gmail.com.

Program Summary:

Nestled along the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal is home to historic fishing villages, idyllic farmland and colorful cities. Discover the very best of this European nation during the quieter winter months, while the weather is still beautiful but mild. Trace the history of Portugal as you explore the quaint countryside and more modern city of Lisbon, and learn how the former fishing village of Cascais transformed into a royal residence and popular port. Local experts will introduce you to the very best of traditional cuisine, artworks, historic palaces and much more!

Activity: walking up to 2 miles per day, some standing and cobblestones.

  • Single Occupancy: $2,199

Roundtrip airfare from Miami is available through tour group for approximately $1000.  If you purchase airfare through tour company, you get 2 free nights in Lisbon with airport transfers at the end of your program.

Savannah’s Rich Heritage, Remarkable History and Memorable Music

Sunday, March 31 to Friday, April 5, 2019

Program Summary:

Like a graceful Southern belle, Savannah is where charming public squares and stately live oaks stand alongside meticulously restored, historic homes and enchanting cemeteries with ornate headstones. In some ways dignified and in others playful, the city is uniformly beautiful and goes out of its way to embody Southern hospitality. Hit the streets and squares of Savannah to discover what makes the city special, from Lowcountry cuisine to Civil War history and a mosaic of residents, past and present.

Activity: Walking up to 2 miles per day, some uneven streets, stairs, historic houses, on/off buses.

Leu Gardens – Docent Led Tour

 Wednesday, December 5, 2018 – 10-11:30 AM

Location:  1020 N. Forest Avenue, Orlando 32803.   Meet at the Office

Parking: free.

Cost: $12 (includes tip and credit card charge).

Minimum of 10 people.

Explore an amazing 50-acre botanical oasis minutes from Downtown Orlando. Each garden is designed specifically to further our mission: inspire visitors to appreciate and understand plants. The garden and historical home were donated to the City of Orlando in 1961 by Mr. Harry P. Leu and his wife, Mary Jane.
